How to relax during finals season: your go to guide for self-care

We cannot believe how quick this semester has gone by!  It feels like just yesterday that we were meeting everyone at our Kickoff event with Nicole Corbett. Unfortunately, with finals season comes an immense amount of stress for students. But, you do not have to be one of those students! Scroll for some of our top tips to relieve stress and focus on self-care during finals.

Finals season is in less than a week! As my first semester of sophomore year comes to a close, I have realized how important taking time for yourself is. Recently, I have been taking around 20 minutes each day doing various activities for myself.

Here are my top activities for self-care as a student.

  1. Podcast listening: The Secrets of Wealthy Women has been a recent favorite.

  2. Walking alone to the monuments: around 4:30pm is perfect for a sunset walk.

  3. Personal coffee date: I have been dying to try out The Wydown Coffee Bar.

  4. Getting your nails done: Varnish Lane is a sustainable nail salon nearby in West End. Check them out on Instagram @VarnishLane

  5. Meditation: HeadSpace is a great free App that has sessions for beginners.

  6. Reading: I usually read for a few minutes before bed to get better sleep. I am currently reading We Are Liars and highly recommend.

GW University Student Self-Care Initiatives:

  1. For GWorld foodies, treat yourself to a snack with Chick Fil A’s holiday milkshake.

  2. Panera Bread usually gives away free food to students during finals. Follow them on Instagram @gwpanera to stay updated!

  3. 12/10 The Final Lap: Relaxation Station | 4:00 PM | District House B115

  4. 12/10 Dan & Nat's Cat Cafe | 5:00 PM | West Hall Rm 200

  5. 12/11 Midnight breakfast 10:30pm Smith Center

As a reminder, GWWIB will have a Duques Hall takeover on December 10th and 11th 2-6pm on the second floor of Duques for its members. We will have quiet, social, and snacking study rooms available. Good luck to everyone taking finals and have a happy winter break. You deserve it!

Cheers,
