Welcome to the GWWIB Spring Conference Blog!

Hi everyone! Welcome to the GWWIB Spring Conference Blog! This year, leading up to the 2020 Spring Conference, we will be sharing a blog post each week with content on college finances, academic resources, career advice, and of course, the Spring Conference!

GWWIB is absolutely thrilled for this year’s Spring Conference! The Spring Conference is a day-long networking event open to the greater George Washington University community as well as the general public. The conference begins and ends with a distinguished keynote speaker and includes a fireside chat with industry leaders, focused panels in areas that range from fashion to finance, as well as workshops designed to provide participants with applicable knowledge and skills. It is an incredible opportunity to meet people from all over the DMV area.

Although the Spring Conference is not until April 4th, the Spring Conference Co-Chairs have been working hard on the conference since May and are excited to share more about themselves and why they are looking forward to the Spring Conference!

Madalynn Williams: Hey everyone! I’m a senior in the business school majoring in International Business and minoring in Economics. Outside of GWWIB, I tutor elementary school students in Math & English and work on special events for a political fundraising firm. When I transferred into GW my sophomore year, I felt like I’d missed out on all the “friendship building” activities most of my peers had already experienced. GWWIB was the first organization that I joined and it became the place I felt the most rooted in the GWSB and greater GW community. Through it, I’ve made real friends and have had the opportunity to develop professionally through being on the Spring Conference team for the past three years. It’s incredibly empowering being a part of an all-women team that’s constantly pushing you to think and act with intention and purpose. Being Co-chair of the Spring Conference is an extremely humbling and rewarding experience, and I’m so grateful to our team for joining us on this crazy ride. April 4, 2020 here we come!

Amal Moosa: Hi everyone! I’m a junior in the business school majoring in Marketing and minoring in Psychology. Outside of GWWIB, I’m a brother in the professional business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. The Spring Conference has genuinely been a life changing event for me. Coming into GWSB, I had major imposter syndrome, and I struggled to feel confident in my professional endeavors. GWWIB gave me a family that has never let me settle for less than what I deserve, and the Spring Conference has been crucial in developing my confidence and giving me the skills I need to take calculated risks. I don’t know where I’d be without GWWIB, and I’m excited for GW to see, on April 4th, 2020, just how much a group of passionate and inspired females can accomplish!

We will be hosting a Spring Conference Launch Party on February 5th to reveal the theme and release ticket sales. Stay tuned for the venue reveal in future blog posts!

Cheers,

Kendall Carter
