Freshman Resources to Start off the Spring Semester Strong
By: Maya Renteria
As first years, we spend most of fall semester getting ourselves acquainted with being in a new school, new place, and new environment. With that overwhelming change, fall semester may not have been what we wanted academically. Here are some great resources to help make spring semester more successful
Calculus Lab Tutoring
The Calculus Lab Tutoring is free tutoring for GW Students who need additional help in their calculus courses. GW Department of Mathematics staffed by Graduate math students are available Monday-Thursday from 5pm-7pm. Calculus Lab is a walk-in style clinic and no appointment is needed. Find more information at: https://math.columbian.gwu.edu/calculus-lab-tutoring
Peer Tutoring and Academic Support
Find course specific tutoring, course reviews, and other forms of academic support through Peer Tutoring and Academic Support. This is another free option for additional help in any specific course. These tutoring sessions require an appointment but the process is easy. Simply follow the link, access the appointment website Penji, sign in with your school account, and book your free tutoring session. https://academiccommons.gwu.edu/tutoring
Academic Program Support
The Academic Program Support is available through the Office for Student Success (OSS). The goal is to connect undergraduate students in 5 of the main colleges (Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, GW School of Business, Elliott School of International Affairs, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the School of Public Health) to programs, resources, and support services to promote academic success. The OSS is filled with academic advisors, academic commons, peer coaching, workshops, and more. To get in contact with Academic Program Support: https://studentsuccess.gwu.edu/academic-program-support
