3 Tips That Will Make Productivity Your Best Friend
It's no secret that a new semester brings along a new wave of distractions and priorities, all of which can prevent you from focusing on your personal and academic goals. Although it may be hard to find solutions, here are a few ways to stay productive.
Write Everything Down
At the start of the new semester, I knew I didn’t want to repeat the same patterns from the fall. Although I made it through last year, I knew that my focus drifted several times, and it caused me to lose sight of what my goals were. Since the beginning of the spring semester, one of the major habits that have kept me on track was writing down my intentions. As mediocre as it sounds writing down your goals leave you with a sense of accountability - you (1) feel organized, (2) motivated to complete everything written down, and (3) gain a sense of accomplishment upon completing your goals/ tasks.
Find Your Point of Origin
They’re the activities that help you refocus your attention, calm you down, and give you new energy to keep moving forward. Personally, my point of origin is centered around music and poetry. Being that those are my creative outlets they allow me to focus my attention on the work that I have to do. Finding your point of origin will maintain a center of focus for you when it comes to assignments and other goals you may have listed.
Get to Know Google Calendar
I’m sure you’ve seen it on some of your peers’ screens, but trust me when I tell you google calendar is not only a pillar of organization, but also a visual representation for focus. Between color-coding events and setting reminders for specific tasks, google calendar will direct your attention to what your priorities are. By using this tool, you will get into the habit of keeping your priorities together, which will continuously allow you to complete your tasks. As someone who uses this to run her life, I can personally attest to how amazing this tool is. Although the idea of productivity can seem like a tedious and daunting concept, using tips like these can help you develop habits to recenter your focus and be more productive!
